Ground-breaking brand strategy and marketing communications

Shaping the future of medicine by providing powerful research and diagnostic tools

The challenge
Avacta Life Sciences, based in Wetherby, England, produce an innovative ‘disruptive’ technology called ‘engineered affinity proteins’, which are uniquely suited to a wide range of applications where antibodies and aptamers have limitations. Developing a distinctive communications system to reach the audience of customers and investors was required.

Our approach
Taking the existing collection of brand identities and products, we rationalised the hierarchy and use of symbology. A new font family was introduced, along with principles for use of the brand colours of black, white, red and grey, and their proportions in use in the wider visual identity system.

To provide distinct character to marketing communications where appropriate, we developed the idea of ‘The Engineers’, a collection of illustrated characters that playfully interact with simplified metaphors for the technologies and equipment.

We have been rolling out the visual identity system across marketing communication, exhibition stands, stationery, print and the last two annual reports.

Client feedback

“Having worked with Glidden over a number of years on a wide variety of projects, I can always rely on them to deliver. From developing corporate branding to producing creative digital and print marketing collateral, we’ve always had a good working relationship. Our products are of a technical, scientific nature, but Glidden have the ability to listen, understand what you are trying to achieve, and reflect this through the designs they deliver.”
