Major brand identity, signing & wayfinding, foodcourt and infrastructure enhancement for Belfast Shopping Centre

Retail giant awakes from slumber

The challenge
To rationalise and unify 40 years of phased development and multiple generations of brand signing for one of Belfast’s largest shopping centres, Abbeycentre, set in the foothills of Cave Hill, inspiration for the novel Gulliver’s Travels.

Our approach
Creation of new brand identity for Abbey Centre, the abstract ‘A’ symbol reflecting the coming together of communities and being the ‘centre’ of retailing for food, fashion and lifestyle. Contemporary typography provides a clean, modern and timeless quality. New internal and external signing and wayfinding to reduce sign confusion and aid orientation. Entrance remodelling to create spectacular focal points, attracting shoppers and creating drama and excitement.

Client feedback

“Glidden are great at what they do!

They invested time and energy into understanding NewRiver’s mission to be the best owner/operators of convenience led, community focused shopping centres throughout the country and holistically delivered excellent new branding, signage and wayfinding in a number of our centres, that was well-researched and relevant to the environment.

They are great to work with too.”
